Some exciting news – I’ve made it onto the shortlist to be a stadium announcer at the London 2012 Olympics.
I’m ridiculously excited about it. I’ve been the stadium announcer at West Ham United FC for the past fourteen years and have announced at Twickenham and the Millennium Stadium and at various England internationals, but I’m ‘over the moon’ to have made it past two selection processes to make that shortlist.
There’s still further steps until they decide, but I’m getting hopeful now.
The Olympic Games is only going to be held in my home city once in my lifetime, so having the opportunity to announce those games is something I couldn’t let slip.
I’d do it for free! But hopefully it will be paid. There are of course lots of different arenas, and while I’d love to make it to the main stadium, I just want to be part of it all, so if it’s the beach volleyball on Horseguards Parade, then that’s fine too.
